A 1978-batch IAS officer and pioneer of India’s digital public infrastructure, Dr. R. S. Sharma served as CEO of the National Health Authority from February 2021 to January 2023, overseeing PM-JAY and launching the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. He also led the Co-WIN vaccination platform during COVID-19. Earlier, as Chair of TRAI (2015–2020), he issued strong net-neutrality rules and advanced public Wi-Fi. Previously, he was the founding Director-General and Mission Director of UIDAI (2009–2013), helping architect Aadhaar, and later served as Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT. He remains an influential voice on technology, health, and governance.
