A 1996-batch IRAS officer, Amitesh Kumar Sinha was reappointed CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in April 2025, concurrently serving as Additional Secretary, MeitY. He previously led ISM and played a key role in formulating PLI schemes for mobile devices, IT hardware, and semiconductors under the Semicon India Programme. His leadership is critical for ISM’s second phase, aiming to establish India as a global semiconductor hub
The Semiconductor Mission is not a T20 match. It’s a marathon, a 10, 20, 30-year journey. Earlier attempts failed, but this time, the government has created a comprehensive policy. Until the mission ‘India Semi’ is completed, we will not rest.
